Photo of the day - Hugo Boss ripping through the Southern Ocean
Great image from Jonathon Glynn-Smith of Alex Thomson and Andrew Cape setting a blistering pace in the Barcelona World Race. Having seen this shot it come as no surprise that the pair set a new 24 hour distance record last week.
Today is particularly significant for Thomson as it is the one year anniversary of him surviving the sinking of his previous boat in the same stretch of water. Thomson commented: ‘Passing the point where I lost my boat last year was a big milestone for me. We have throttled back a bit over the last few days as it is important to preserve the boat. Statistics suggest that only 50% of the boats that entered this race will finish and you need to be in it to win it.’
Yeah they really look like they have ‘throttled back’ don’t they?
