This is Marc Thiercelin at the helm of his Open 60’ DCNS 1000 in the process of breaking the Mediterranean monohull record between Marseilles and Carthage.
 
He crossed the finish line off the Ras Quartajamah lighthouse in Tunisia, at 22.52.30 on Saturday 11 July, completing the crossing in 33 hrs 13 min and 30 seconds.
 
His average speed was an impressive 13.78 knots and the shaved over twelve hours off than the previous recordwhich was held by Kito de Pavant on Groupe Bel on 4 June 2009.
