Despite the glitz and glamour ashore out in Dubai for the 2010 Puma International Moth World Championship, the on the water conditions are proving less than perfect for Moth sailing. Light and flukey winds have prevailed for the first two days of racing, making it difficult at times for the sailors to get their boats airborne.
Australian Moth technical guru Andrew McDougal appears to be revelling in the tricky breezes however and after four races he tops the leaderboard with a very impressive 1,1,11,2 scoreline. British sailmaker Mike Lennon sits in second with US Laser superstar Brad Funk taking the third podium place at the end of day two.
Reigning Moth World Champion Bora Gulari from the US is back in sixth place and will likely be hoping for some windier conditions to kick in for the rest of the regatta. The 2010 Puma International Moth World Championship runs through until Sunday.
