Apologies....

18 January 2010 20:40:20
Apologies for the breaking coverage. We lost our modem signal.

Videos from Races one and two are uploading now and we will post them along with our on the dock interviews very soon.

Meanwhile here is the story of race two from where we left off...

At the second leeward mark Leenabarca led by about three lengths from Samba.

Ramrod went around third about 45 seconds adrift of the first two,

On the second beat Samba made their move and sneaked past Leenabarca to lead at the second windward mark.

Down the second run Samba made a brave move by being the first to gybe on to port less than half way down the leg. Leenabarca stayed on Starboard but when the boats converged at the bottom of the run Samba had eked out perhaps another boatlength.

These two chose the left mark with third placed Ramrod choosing to attack up the lat beat by going to the right hand buoy.

Then

Ninkasi

Starting the final beat Ramrod was right back in it and with the two leaders Samba and Leenabarca engaged in their own little duel on the left ramrod was able to make some big gains on the right.

At the finish Samba held on to take the win by around thirty seconds from Leenabarca who had to fight off the advancing Ramrod in the final few boat lengths.
